The Bihar government announced a policy that will remunerate digital creators based on the viewership of posts that promote state schemes and public‑interest programmes.
Patna, Aug 20 — Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary's administration unveiled a social‑media framework aimed at leveraging online platforms to spread information about government schemes quickly and widely. The policy proposes that content creators who produce short videos or posts about welfare programmes will receive monetary compensation tied to the number of views their content garners.
Officials said the move is intended to harness the reach of popular creators, especially on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, to ensure that scheme details reach remote and urban audiences alike. While exact payment rates were not disclosed, the guidelines indicate that remuneration will be proportional to view counts, subject to verification by a designated monitoring cell.
The announcement follows a broader push by the state to modernise its communication strategy and to encourage private participation in public‑service messaging. The government plans to roll out the scheme in phases, beginning with pilot projects in districts where digital penetration is high.
