The Uttar Pradesh government has resolved to speed up progress on Sustainable Development Goals, concentrating on health, nutrition and education sectors.
The state cabinet of Uttar Pradesh convened a meeting to review the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and agreed to intensify efforts in three priority areas: health, nutrition and education. Officials highlighted that while the state has made strides in these sectors, the pace needs to be accelerated to meet the 2030 targets.
The health agenda will focus on expanding primary care facilities, improving maternal and child health indicators, and strengthening disease surveillance. In nutrition, the plan calls for scaling up mid‑day meal schemes, enhancing supplementary nutrition programs for children and pregnant women, and better monitoring of malnutrition rates.
Education initiatives will aim to increase enrollment and retention in schools, upgrade digital infrastructure, and improve teacher training to raise learning outcomes. The government said it will allocate additional budgetary resources and seek greater coordination with central agencies and development partners to achieve these goals.
Stakeholders from civil society and academia were invited to provide inputs, and a monitoring framework will be established to track quarterly progress. The move reflects Uttar Pradesh's commitment to align its development agenda with national and global sustainability objectives.
