Sania Mirza’s father has publicly denied media reports that he donated land for the construction of a mosque.
Sania Mirza’s father, S. S. Mirza, issued a clear statement on Thursday rejecting recent news reports that he had transferred any parcel of land for the building of a mosque. The denial was made through a press release circulated to regional newspapers and posted on his official social media handle.
The rumors surfaced after a local news portal cited unnamed sources claiming that the family had pledged a plot of land in Hyderabad for a new place of worship. No documentary evidence or legal filing supporting the allegation has been presented to date.
In his statement, Mirza emphasized that no such donation has taken place and that any suggestion otherwise is unfounded. He also urged the media to verify information before publishing stories that could affect the family’s reputation.
Authorities have not commented on the matter, and no formal complaint has been lodged. The clarification comes amid heightened sensitivities around religious property issues in the state.
