The Rajasthan Food Safety Department seized and destroyed around 600 kg of contaminated mawa and 45 kg of expired vegetable ghee in Dholpur’s Maniyan area before the Diwali festival.

Food safety officials in Dholpur, Rajasthan, carried out a large‑scale seizure in the Maniyan region just days before Diwali. The operation targeted vendors suspected of selling adulterated dairy products.

Inspectors recovered roughly 600 kilograms of mawa that was reported to be foul‑smelling and contaminated, along with 45 kilograms of vegetable ghee that had passed its expiry date. Both items were deemed unsafe for consumption and were ordered to be destroyed on site.

The department said the action is part of its pre‑festival crackdown to prevent the circulation of substandard food items that could pose health risks to consumers. Authorities will continue random checks throughout the festive period to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
