The state has earmarked 31.68 crore rupees to launch district central cooperative banks in Ratapgarh, Rajsamand, Dhaulpur and Dungarpur, targeting better banking and loan facilities for farmers, pastoralists and small businesses.

Rajasthan’s finance department announced the approval of a ₹31.68 crore fund to establish four district central cooperative banks in the districts of Ratapgarh, Rajsamand, Dhaulpur and Dungarpur. The move is part of the state’s effort to deepen financial inclusion in rural areas and to provide a dedicated credit channel for agricultural and allied activities.
The allocated amount will cover the initial capital, infrastructure setup and staffing of the new banks. Officials expect the banks to operate under the cooperative banking model, which allows local stakeholders to have a say in governance while adhering to RBI guidelines.
By situating banking services at the district level, the government aims to reduce the distance farmers and small entrepreneurs travel to access formal credit. The banks are also expected to offer simplified loan procedures, lower interest rates and tailored products for livestock rearing, horticulture and micro‑enterprises.
State officials indicated that the new institutions will coordinate with existing district cooperative societies to channel subsidies and scheme benefits directly to beneficiaries. The rollout is slated to begin in the next financial quarter, subject to regulatory clearances.
If successful, the initiative could serve as a model for other states seeking to strengthen rural credit delivery through cooperative structures.
