Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi met the bereaved parents of murder victim Ankita Bhandari while protesting the recent appointment of a Governor in Sikkim.
Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi visited the parents of Ankita Bhandari, a young woman whose murder has drawn national attention. The meeting was arranged as part of a broader protest against the central government's recent appointment of a new Governor for the state of Sikkim.
During the encounter, the Gandhis expressed condolences to the grieving family and reiterated their demand for a swift, transparent investigation into the killing. They also used the platform to question the timing of the gubernatorial appointment, suggesting that the move could distract from pressing law‑and‑order concerns.
The protest, which also featured slogans and placards, underscored the Congress party's broader criticism of the ruling administration's handling of both justice delivery and federal appointments. No further details about the location of the meeting were disclosed.
The parents, who have been campaigning for justice, thanked the leaders for their solidarity but reiterated that the priority remains a thorough probe and accountability for those responsible for Ankita's death.
