Religious figures gathered in Ujjain to protest against Baba Bageshwar, calling for stringent legislation against blasphemy.

A coalition of priests, led by Mahamandaleshwar and senior religious leader Harshanand Giri, organized a public rally in Ujjain demanding the enactment of strict anti‑blasphemy legislation. The gathering, held near the city’s central temple complex, aimed to pressure the state government to introduce punitive measures against anyone who insults Hindu deities or scriptures.

During the protest, participants highlighted recent statements by Baba Bageshwar that they described as disrespectful towards Hindu traditions. They urged authorities to treat such remarks as criminal offenses, calling for both immediate action and severe penalties.

The rally remained peaceful, with organizers distributing pamphlets outlining their proposed legal framework. While no official response has been recorded yet, the demonstrators indicated they will continue to press the issue until a law is drafted.

Local police monitored the event, ensuring order and preventing any escalation. The movement reflects a broader trend of religious groups seeking legal protection against perceived sacrilege across the country.
