The Jammu and Kashmir administration confirmed that no additional patwar halqas have been created since 2014.
The state government of Jammu and Kashmir told media that there has been no creation of new patwar halqas since 2014, according to a report by Kashmir Life. The statement was issued by the revenue department, which oversees land‑record administration across the union territory.
Patwar halqas are the smallest revenue units used for maintaining land ownership, tenancy and tax records. Each halqa is managed by a patwari, who is responsible for field surveys, updating cadastral maps and assisting citizens with land‑related queries.
Officials said the existing network of patwar circles continues to serve the region’s 12.5 million residents, but they did not provide details on whether any restructuring or expansion is planned in the future.
