Following their gains in the recent midterm elections, U.S. Democrats have stepped up calls to impeach Hegseth, asserting that his removal is essential.
U.S. Democrats are sharpening their impeachment effort against Hegseth after the party secured notable wins in the recent midterm elections. The electoral success has been framed by Democratic leaders as a mandate to hold the official accountable for alleged misconduct.
In a public statement, a senior Democratic spokesperson quoted the rallying cry, "Hegseth has got to go," signalling a coordinated push in the House to initiate formal impeachment proceedings.
Lawmakers are expected to introduce a resolution in the coming weeks, with committee hearings likely to focus on the accusations that have fueled the demand for removal. The move comes as the party seeks to translate its electoral momentum into legislative action, aiming to demonstrate accountability at the highest levels of government.
