A cyclonic system over the Bay of Bengal is set to bring rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds to 31 districts of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, with heavy rain alerts for six districts.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a cyclonic disturbance forming in the Bay of Bengal will affect Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Forecasts indicate widespread showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds across 31 districts of the state.

Six districts – Seoni, Singrauli, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla and Balaghat – have been placed under a heavy rain warning as the system is expected to intensify over these areas. Residents are advised to stay alert for sudden downpours and possible flash floods.

Authorities have urged people to avoid non-essential travel in the affected districts and to keep emergency kits ready. The IMD will continue to monitor the system and issue updates as the situation evolves.

The monsoon season, which officially began in early June, is expected to gain momentum across central India following this development, providing much‑needed relief to farmers but also posing risks of localized flooding.
