The Mizoram unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party said it has not held any alliance discussions with the ruling Zoram People's Movement and accused the Congress party of spreading false information.

Mizoram's state BJP released a statement denying any ongoing or concluded talks with the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) about forming a political alliance. The denial came after media reports suggested that the two parties were exploring a partnership ahead of upcoming state elections.

In the same statement, the BJP accused the Indian National Congress of deliberately circulating misinformation to create a false impression of a possible BJP‑ZPM tie‑up. Party officials said the allegations were intended to destabilise the BJP's position in the state.

The ZPM, which currently heads the Mizoram government, has not commented on the BJP's denial. The Congress party also refrained from responding to the accusation at the time of reporting.

Political analysts note that alliance dynamics in Mizoram remain fluid, but the BJP's clarification underscores its intent to keep its strategic options open without committing to any formal partnership at this stage.
