The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has accused the State Election Commission of decisions that it says reduced its prospects in recent Tamil Nadu by‑elections.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) lodged a formal complaint alleging that recent changes introduced by the State Election Commission (SIR) adversely affected its performance in the latest Tamil Nadu by‑polls. In a statement released after the results, the party claimed that the commission's decisions on constituency boundaries and polling schedules disadvantaged its candidates, leading to a lower vote share than expected.
DMK officials said the timing of the changes, announced just weeks before the elections, left little room for the party to adjust its campaign strategy. They argued that the revised polling dates conflicted with key outreach activities and that the redrawn constituency maps diluted traditional support bases.
The State Election Commission, which oversees local body elections in the state, has not yet responded to the accusations. Election analysts note that while procedural adjustments are routine, any perception of bias can influence voter confidence and party morale ahead of upcoming state and national contests.
