The India Meteorological Department has warned that scattered light rain and snowfall will affect several areas of Jammu and Kashmir today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, indicating that light rain and isolated snowfall are expected in a few locations today. The forecast covers the early morning hours and may continue into the afternoon, with precipitation likely to be brief and localized.
Meteorologists noted that the moisture-laden western disturbances moving across the Himalayas are responsible for the unsettled conditions. While the intensity is expected to remain low, the department advises residents in the affected districts to stay prepared for slippery roads and reduced visibility.
Travel authorities have been instructed to monitor the situation closely and to issue real‑time updates for highway and railway services. Farmers in the valley are also cautioned to protect young crops from unexpected moisture, although the brief nature of the rain is not expected to cause major damage.
The IMD will continue to update its forecasts throughout the day and has recommended that the public stay tuned to local news bulletins for any changes.
