Karnataka authorities raided the Bengaluru and Uttar Pradesh residences of IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar as part of a probe into a recruitment scam linked to the state’s industrial department.
On a recent operation, Karnataka police searched the Bengaluru residence of Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, a 2016‑batch IAS officer serving as Director‑MSME in the Department of Industries and Commerce, and a property linked to him in Uttar Pradesh. The raids are part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in a recruitment drive conducted by the state’s industrial department.
Investigators allege that the recruitment process was manipulated to favour certain candidates, breaching Karnataka Civil Services (Recruitment) Rules. The MSME directorate, where Gangwar holds a senior post, is under scrutiny for possible collusion with private firms seeking contracts.
Police seized documents, computers and other material that could illuminate the alleged scam. Gangwar has not been taken into custody; officials said he will be questioned as the inquiry proceeds.
The case adds to a series of recent probes into recruitment and appointment irregularities across Indian states, highlighting heightened vigilance by anti‑corruption agencies.
