An IndiGo aircraft that took off from Guwahati collided with the runway surface at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport; all passengers were reported safe.
An IndiGo flight that departed Guwahati for Bengaluru encountered a mishap while landing at Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday. The aircraft’s rear section made contact with the runway, prompting an immediate halt to the landing sequence.
Airport officials quickly evacuated the aircraft and inspected the runway for damage. Passengers were escorted to the terminal, and airline representatives confirmed that no injuries were reported among the occupants.
IndiGo issued a statement saying the aircraft was inspected and cleared for further operations after a thorough safety check. The airport management has launched an investigation in coordination with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to determine the cause of the incident.
The runway was temporarily closed for safety checks, causing minor delays to other flights, but normal operations resumed within a few hours.
