The Finance Minister told Business Standard that India expects to keep its GDP growth around 7% in the 2027 fiscal year despite a challenging global environment.

New Delhi – The Finance Minister indicated that the Indian economy is projected to sustain a growth rate of about 7 percent in the fiscal year 2027, even as global economic conditions remain uncertain. This outlook was shared in an interview with Business Standard, reflecting confidence in domestic demand and policy support.

The minister highlighted that robust consumption, continued investment, and a stable macro‑policy framework are key drivers that can offset external pressures such as slower growth in major trading partners and volatile commodity prices.

While acknowledging the risks posed by geopolitical tensions and tightening financial conditions abroad, the government remains committed to fiscal prudence and structural reforms aimed at enhancing productivity and employment.

Analysts note that maintaining a 7 percent pace would place India among the few large economies achieving such growth, reinforcing its position as a resilient market for investors.

The statement underscores the administration’s focus on sustaining momentum through targeted fiscal measures and continued reforms, without specifying any new policy announcements at this stage.
