Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma leads tribute to police on Commemoration Day

Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, together with a delegation of party leaders, participated in the annual Police Commemoration Day ceremony, offering respects to the state's police force. The event, observed across India to honor fallen and serving officers, featured a moment of silence followed by the laying of wreaths at a designated memorial site. Sarma highlighted the dedication of police personnel in maintaining law and order and urged continued public support for the force. The gathering underscored the government's commitment to recognizing the sacrifices made by police officers in the state.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the police department, who briefed the attendees on recent initiatives aimed at enhancing community policing and officer welfare. While no specific policy announcements were made, the tribute reinforced the symbolic importance of the day in Assam's security calendar.

Organisers concluded the program with a cultural performance, reflecting the state's respect for its law‑enforcement agencies and reinforcing the bond between the police and the public.
