The Income Tax Department organised a two‑day Aykar Chintan Shivir at Lovely Professional University, covering procedures for tax audits and disclosure of foreign assets.

Delhi‑based Income Tax officials arrived at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara, Punjab, to conduct a focused awareness programme titled “Aykar Chintan Shivir”. The camp, spanning two days, targeted students, faculty and local taxpayers, aiming to demystify complex provisions of the Income Tax Act.

During the sessions, officers explained the criteria for initiating a tax audit, the documentation required, and the timelines for compliance. They also highlighted recent amendments that broaden the scope of reporting foreign assets, emphasizing the need for accurate disclosures under the Black Money (Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets) Act.

Interactive Q&A segments allowed participants to seek clarification on practical issues such as filing of Form 26AS, handling of TDS mismatches, and penalties for non‑compliance. The department distributed informational brochures and promised a helpline for further assistance.

The initiative reflects the government’s broader push to improve voluntary compliance ahead of the upcoming financial year, leveraging educational institutions as outreach hubs.
