The state’s Goods and Services Tax receipts jumped 35% in September, according to the Times of India.

Gujarat’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue rose sharply in September, registering a 35 per cent increase over the previous month, the Times of India reported. The growth marks one of the steepest month‑on‑month rises recorded in the state’s recent fiscal history.

Analysts attribute the surge to stronger compliance among businesses and a rebound in commercial activity across key sectors such as manufacturing and services. The higher collection underscores the effectiveness of recent measures aimed at broadening the tax base and improving filing efficiency.

State officials said the additional revenue will bolster the state’s fiscal position and support ongoing development projects. The finance department expects the upward trend to continue as the economy stabilises post‑pandemic.
