The Election Commission of India (ECI) has formally objected to a recent proposal to alter Form 6, a statutory document used by political parties to disclose financial details and assets of candidates. Form 6 is a key tool for ensuring transparency in the electoral process, and any changes to its format require strict procedural compliance.
Commission members described the suggested amendment as both illegal and unauthorised, asserting that it bypasses the legal framework established under the Representation of the People Act.
