The capital will host 42 Ravana burnings on Dussehra with heightened security and a two‑hour traffic diversion from 5 to 7 pm.
Chandigarh’s municipal authorities have announced that 42 locations across the city will witness the traditional burning of Ravana effigies this Dussehra. The extensive schedule aims to accommodate large crowds while ensuring the ritual proceeds safely.
Security personnel, including police and paramilitary units, will be deployed at each site, and a reinforced perimeter will be maintained to prevent any untoward incidents. Officials have also set up crowd‑control measures such as barricades and CCTV monitoring.
To facilitate smooth movement, the city has issued a temporary traffic diversion plan that will be in effect from 5 pm to 7 pm on the day of the celebrations. Vehicles are advised to use alternate routes as designated by traffic police.
The coordinated effort reflects the administration’s intent to balance festive enthusiasm with public safety, allowing residents to observe the cultural event without disruption.
