A purported audio clip allegedly showing Vaishali police officer Fullima Kumari demanding a ₹1 lakh bribe to secure a case has gone viral, prompting the Deputy Inspector General to order an investigation.
A recording that has circulated online is said to feature Fullima Kumari, the woman police officer in charge of the Vaishali police station, requesting a bribe of ₹1 lakh from a 112‑dial operator to obtain relief in a case. The clip, which was uploaded to social media last week, sparked immediate outrage among the public.
The audio allegedly shows Kumari asking the operator to pay the money so that the case can be dropped or the complainant can be let off. The officer’s voice is heard insisting that the payment is necessary for the case to be resolved in the desired manner.
In response to the viral clip, the Deputy Inspector General of Bihar’s police force has ordered a formal inquiry into the matter. The investigation will examine the authenticity of the recording and whether any official misconduct has occurred.
If the allegations are proven true, the officer could face charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and other relevant statutes. The police department has assured the public that it will act swiftly to maintain integrity in law enforcement.
