Union Home Minister Amit Shah pledged financial and logistical assistance to the Indian states grappling with Cyclone Arnab, while rescue teams continue to evacuate affected residents.
Cyclone Arnab has swept across several Indian coastal states, bringing heavy rains, strong winds and widespread flooding that have disrupted lives and damaged infrastructure. The meteorological department has warned of further intensification as the system moves inland.
In a press briefing, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that the central government will extend both financial grants and essential relief supplies to the affected states. He emphasized that the assistance will be coordinated with state governments to address immediate needs such as food, shelter and medical care.
Rescue operations are currently underway, with the National Disaster Response Force, state police and local volunteers evacuating thousands of residents from vulnerable areas. Relief camps are being set up, and emergency medical teams have been dispatched to treat injuries and prevent disease outbreaks.
The central ministry has also instructed relevant agencies to expedite the release of funds and to monitor the situation closely, promising further support as the cyclone weakens.
