Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh launched its first wildlife festival, offering guided bird walks, painting sessions and forest treks to promote hands‑on conservation.
Ziro, a scenic town in Arunachal Pradesh, inaugurated its maiden wildlife festival this week. The three‑day event was designed to bring local communities and visitors closer to the region's rich biodiversity through interactive activities.
Organisers arranged guided bird‑watching walks that highlighted endemic species found in the Eastern Himalayas. Parallel art sessions invited participants to create paintings inspired by the surrounding forests, aiming to foster an emotional connection with nature.
In addition, forest treks led by naturalists allowed attendees to experience the area's ecosystems firsthand, emphasizing the importance of habitat preservation. The festival’s hands‑on approach reflects a growing trend of experiential conservation programmes across the country.
Local officials expressed optimism that the initiative will boost eco‑tourism while reinforcing community stewardship of wildlife habitats.
