Women in Dhubri, Assam gathered to pray and weep moments before authorities began demolishing a mosque.
Dhupri in Assam saw a solemn gathering of women as a mosque was slated for demolition. The demolition, carried out by local officials, began shortly after the women completed their prayers.
The women, many of them residents of the neighbourhood, stood together, reciting verses and shedding tears as the structure was prepared for removal. Their emotional response highlighted the deep personal and community ties to the place of worship.
As the demolition proceeded, the scene remained quiet apart from the sounds of the machinery, underscoring the contrast between the ritual of prayer and the irreversible change to the landscape.
