New killings jeopardize peace talks among Manipur’s Christian tribals

Fresh incidents of lethal violence have been reported in Manipur, targeting members of Christian tribal communities. The killings have come at a critical juncture, as representatives of the tribes were engaged in peace talks aimed at ending long‑standing unrest in the state. Local officials said the attacks could derail the negotiations and reignite tensions that the dialogue seeks to resolve. Security forces have been deployed to the affected areas, and authorities are urging all parties to maintain calm while investigations continue. The situation remains fluid, with community leaders calling for an immediate end to the violence to preserve the fragile peace process.
