Heavy rains have led to severe waterlogging in Tamil Nadu, prompting the education department to shut schools in five districts.
Heavy rainfall over Chennai and surrounding areas has caused extensive waterlogging across Tamil Nadu. Streets in several towns are submerged, disrupting daily life and transport.
The state education department issued an advisory ordering the closure of schools in five districts until conditions improve. The directive applies to both government and private institutions, with officials urging parents to keep children at home for safety.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and will reopen schools once floodwaters recede and roads become passable. Relief teams are also working to clear drainage channels and restore normalcy.
