Valmiki leaders announce permanent dharna against SDO Shamshere Singh Bhullar in Amritsar

Amritsar – Leaders of the Valmiki community have announced a "pakka dharna" that will begin tomorrow against Sub‑Divisional Officer Shamshere Singh Bhullar. The protest, described as permanent, is intended to press the officer to address grievances raised by the community, though specific demands have not been disclosed in the statement.

The community representatives said the dharna will be maintained until their concerns are satisfactorily resolved and have urged local authorities to ensure law and order during the demonstration. Police officials have been informed of the planned protest and are expected to monitor the situation closely.

Valmiki groups, classified as a Scheduled Caste, have previously staged demonstrations over issues such as alleged discrimination and administrative neglect. This latest dharna adds to a series of local agitations aimed at securing better treatment and accountability from government officials.

No response from the Sub‑Divisional Officer's office has been reported as of now. The protest is set to take place at the SDO's office premises in Amritsar, with community members planning to maintain a continuous presence.
