Uttarakhand to set up Youth Commission and Agniveer Cell to boost opportunities

The state government of Uttarakhand has outlined a proposal to establish a dedicated Youth Commission. The body will be tasked with coordinating policies, programs and partnerships that target skill development, entrepreneurship and job creation for the state's young demographic.

Alongside the commission, an Agniveer Cell is slated to be set up. The cell will focus on linking youth with defence‑related pathways, including training, recruitment and support services under the broader Agniveer initiative.

Officials indicated that both entities are intended to function as single‑window platforms, simplifying access to schemes and resources. The move reflects Uttarakhand's broader strategy to retain talent within the state and address rising unemployment among young adults.

Implementation details, including timelines and budget allocations, are expected to be disclosed in the upcoming state budget session.
