The Uttarakhand government has announced a homestay subsidy scheme offering up to Rs 15 lakh to eligible residents, with applications now open.
The state government of Uttarakhand has introduced a new homestay subsidy programme that can provide financial assistance of up to Rs 15 lakh per applicant. The initiative is part of the government's effort to promote tourism in rural and hill areas and to generate additional income for local families.
Eligibility is limited to residents of Uttarakhand who either own an existing homestay property or intend to set up a homestay that meets the state's tourism standards. Applicants must demonstrate that the proposed or existing accommodation will be used for tourist lodging and comply with basic safety and service norms.
Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official Uttarakhand tourism department portal or at designated district tourism offices. The online form requires basic personal details, proof of residence, and a brief project proposal outlining the homestay setup.
The subsidy, disbursed in stages upon verification of compliance, is intended to cover capital investment, renovation costs, and essential amenities, thereby lowering the entry barrier for aspiring homestay operators.
The scheme is expected to boost local employment, diversify income sources, and enhance the overall visitor experience in the state's scenic destinations.
