Meteorologists say the El Niño pattern will keep Uttar Pradesh’s winter about 2 °C warmer than usual, reducing the likelihood of severe cold spells.

Weather experts forecast that Uttar Pradesh will experience a milder winter this year, with temperatures expected to be roughly two degrees Celsius higher than the seasonal average. The outlook attributes the warming trend to the ongoing El Niño phenomenon, which typically influences temperature patterns across the subcontinent.

The elevated temperatures are likely to prevent the sharp cold snaps that residents often brace for during December and January. As a result, the state may see fewer instances of frost and reduced demand for heating fuels.

Analysts also note that the warmer spell could usher in an early onset of summer-like conditions, potentially affecting agricultural cycles and water usage. While the exact timing remains uncertain, the trend suggests a shift in the usual winter‑summer transition for the region.

Authorities advise citizens to stay informed about daily forecasts and to adjust agricultural practices accordingly, especially for crops sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
