The Uttar Pradesh government will list items made by state self‑help groups on major e‑commerce sites to expand market access for rural artisans.
The Uttar Pradesh administration announced that products crafted by self‑help groups (SHGs) across the state will be featured on leading online shopping platforms. The decision, disclosed in a recent press release, aims to connect rural artisans, many of whom are women, directly with urban consumers.
Under the scheme, SHG members will undergo a digital onboarding process that includes product verification, quality checks and logistics coordination. Government agencies will partner with e‑commerce giants to ensure seamless listing, payment processing and delivery.
Officials said the initiative aligns with the state's broader digital‑inclusion agenda and will be rolled out in phases, beginning with a pilot on a few selected platforms. By leveraging the growing online consumer base, the program seeks to boost incomes for thousands of SHG participants.
If successful, the model could be replicated in other states, offering a scalable pathway for traditional crafts and locally produced goods to reach a national audience.
