The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a first instalment of Rs 380 crore to fund new city development projects in Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli.
The state cabinet of Uttar Pradesh gave the green light to a Rs 380 crore first instalment aimed at launching city‑development schemes in three key districts: Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli. The funding is earmarked for infrastructure upgrades, urban amenities and civic services that are part of a broader plan to modernise these urban centres.
According to the announcement reported by Swarajya, the allocation marks the initial tranche of a larger financial package the state intends to roll out over the coming years. Officials said the money will be released to the respective municipal bodies to commence works such as road widening, drainage improvement and public space revitalisation.
The move reflects Uttar Pradesh's continued focus on urban development as a driver of economic growth and employment. By targeting its capital and two neighbouring districts, the government hopes to create a ripple effect that boosts regional connectivity and quality of life for residents.
