Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to Introduce New Interstate Bus Services

The governments of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar announced plans to launch additional interstate bus routes while reviewing 25 existing services between the two states.
The transport ministries of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have jointly decided to expand their inter‑state connectivity by adding new bus routes linking major cities across the two states. The initiative comes as part of a broader review of the 25 existing services that currently operate between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, aiming to improve frequency, reliability and passenger comfort.
Officials from both states said the review will assess performance metrics such as occupancy rates, travel times and infrastructure needs at key terminals. Findings from the assessment will guide the design of the new routes, including selection of stops, scheduling and fare structures.
The move is expected to boost regional trade, tourism and labor mobility, offering a cost‑effective alternative to rail and air travel for commuters and travelers alike. State transport departments will coordinate with private operators to implement the expanded network over the coming months.
