A 10‑year‑old male tiger (ST‑15) has been missing for three weeks and a two‑year‑old cub of female ST‑27 has been untraceable for a month in Rajasthan’s Sariska Tiger Reserve, prompting an intensified search by the forest department.
The forest department of Rajasthan reported that a 10‑year‑old male tiger identified as ST‑15 has been missing from Sariska Tiger Reserve for the past three weeks. In the same reserve, a two‑year‑old cub belonging to the female tiger ST‑27 has not been seen for about a month.
Officials say that routine patrols and camera‑trap footage failed to locate the animals, leading the department to launch a focused search operation. Teams equipped with tracking dogs, drones and additional ground personnel have been deployed to scour the dense forest and surrounding areas.
The disappearance adds to growing concerns over the dwindling tiger population in the state. Sariska, once home to a thriving tiger herd, has seen several losses in recent years, prompting conservationists to call for stronger anti‑poaching measures and habitat monitoring.
