Earlier today, a private car carrying a group of young men was involved in a serious collision on a road in Jalandhar, Punjab. The vehicle, returning from a birthday celebration, struck a tractor‑trailer that was stationary on the carriageway.
The impact proved fatal for two of the occupants, identified as close friends of each other. One of the deceased was reported to be the nephew of Hanni Singh, a local resident whose name was mentioned in the police report.
Police and emergency services arrived promptly at the scene, cordoning off the area and transporting the injured to the nearest hospital. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances that led the car to hit the immobile vehicle, including whether speed or visibility played a role.
Authorities have reminded motorists to exercise caution when navigating roads where slow‑moving or parked agricultural equipment may be present, especially during evening hours when visibility can be reduced.
