Two young men from Ghaziabad, Saurabh and Aman, died after drowning in the Narmada River at Gomukh Ghat in Onkarshwar on Sunday night.
On Sunday night, two residents of Ghaziabad, identified as Saurabh and Aman, entered the waters of the Narmada River at Gomukh Ghat in the town of Onkarshwar, Madhya Pradesh, for a ritual bath. The incident occurred after dark, when visibility was poor.
According to eyewitnesses, the young men misjudged the depth of the river and were caught in a strong current. The dark conditions made it difficult for them to gauge how deep the water was, leading to their sudden submersion.
Local divers and rescue teams were alerted promptly. After a thorough search, the divers were able to retrieve both bodies from the river, confirming the tragic loss.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution while bathing in rivers after sunset and to avoid swimming in areas where the water depth is uncertain. The incident is being recorded as an accidental drowning.
