The Tripura Left Front has alleged that the nomination process for upcoming urban body elections was obstructed and has asked authorities to provide security to its candidates.
The Left Front in Tripura has raised concerns that the filing of nomination papers for the forthcoming urban local body elections faced undue interference. Party officials say that procedural delays and administrative obstacles prevented several of their candidates from completing the nomination on time.
According to the party’s statement, the alleged obstruction was orchestrated by local officials, creating an uneven playing field ahead of the polls. The Front claims that its members were denied access to required forms and were subjected to arbitrary scrutiny, hampering their ability to contest.
In response, the Left Front has formally requested that the State Election Commission and police provide enhanced security arrangements for its candidates during the remaining nomination and campaigning phases. The party argues that protection is essential to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
Election officials have not yet issued a detailed reply, but the commission is expected to review the complaints before the final list of candidates is announced.
