Tripura government partners with NDDB to boost dairy production and empower farmers

The Tripura state administration has signed an agreement with the National Dairy Development Board to expand the dairy sector, aiming for higher milk output and greater farmer empowerment.
The Tripura government announced a strategic partnership with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to accelerate growth in the state's dairy sector. Under the agreement, NDDB will provide technical assistance, training and infrastructure support to local dairy cooperatives.
The collaboration targets a measurable increase in milk production over the next few years, with the state aiming to raise its annual output to meet rising demand and improve farmer incomes. NDDB's expertise in breed improvement, feed management and market linkages is expected to modernise existing farms and encourage new entrants.
Officials said the initiative will also focus on empowering smallholder dairy farmers through capacity‑building programmes and better access to credit. By strengthening the supply chain and creating more reliable market channels, the partnership seeks to make Tripura a notable contributor to the regional dairy market.
The agreement was formalised in a ceremony attended by the state’s chief minister, the NDDB chairman and senior officials from the agriculture department. Implementation will be monitored through a joint task force to ensure that targets are met and benefits reach the grassroots level.
