The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has undertaken a systematic drive test in Sonitpur, a district of Assam, to gauge the quality of mobile services offered by operators in the area. The field exercise is part of TRAI's ongoing effort to monitor network performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
During the test, specially equipped vehicles travelled along major routes and populated zones, recording parameters such as signal strength, call drop rates, data speeds, and latency for all major telecom providers. The collected data will be benchmarked against national quality benchmarks.
TRAI officials said the findings will help identify coverage gaps, inform future policy decisions, and guide operators in improving service delivery for consumers in the region. The agency plans to publish a detailed report once analysis is complete.
