The Telangana Transport Department announced plans to introduce artificial‑intelligence enabled cameras to monitor and assess candidates during driving licence examinations.
The Transport Department of Telangana has unveiled a proposal to integrate AI‑driven camera systems into the state's driving test process. The technology will automatically record candidates' performance, analyse driving behaviour and flag any violations in real time, aiming to enhance objectivity and reduce human bias.
According to departmental officials, the cameras will be installed at all Regional Transport Offices and test tracks across the state. Data captured will be processed by machine‑learning algorithms trained to detect common infractions such as failure to use indicators, unsafe lane changes, and overspeeding.
The move is part of a broader digital transformation agenda intended to modernise transport services and improve road safety. The department expects the system to be operational before the next licensing cycle, with pilot trials slated for early next year.
