Indore witnessed massive gatherings at Ganesh temples on Monday, with the Khajrana Ganesh Temple drawing huge crowds for the festival's opening rites.
Indore came alive on Monday with streets and homes adorned for Ganeshotsav, as devotees thronged the city's Ganesh temples to welcome Lord Ganesha. The festive atmosphere was marked by chants, music and the display of Ganapati idols in households across the city.
The Khajrana Ganesh Temple, a major pilgrimage site in the city, saw an especially large turnout, with reports of millions of worshippers arriving to offer prayers. Pilgrims gathered in long queues, and the temple authorities managed the flow of devotees throughout the day.
Rituals at Khajrana included the traditional offering of sweet delicacies. Devotees presented laddus from Motichur as bhog, while others offered modak, the favoured sweet of Lord Ganesha. The offerings were distributed among the gathered crowd after the ceremonial prayers.
Other Ganesh temples in Indore also reported dense crowds, reflecting the city-wide devotion to the elephant‑headed deity during the opening day of the ten‑day festival.
