Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's successor, Vijay, officially opened the Periyar Arivulagam complex in Coimbatore, a project valued at ₹301.71 crore.

Chief Minister Vijay presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Periyar Arivulagam in Coimbatore on Thursday. The new complex, named after social reformer Periyar, represents a capital outlay of ₹301.71 crore and is expected to serve as a hub for cultural and educational activities in the region.

The event was attended by senior state officials and local dignitaries, who highlighted the project's role in promoting knowledge dissemination and preserving regional heritage. The facility includes exhibition spaces, a library and interactive displays, though detailed specifications were not disclosed.

State authorities said the centre will be managed by a dedicated board and will operate under the guidance of the Tamil Nadu government. Its opening aligns with the administration's broader agenda of investing in infrastructure that supports learning and community engagement.

The inauguration marks a significant addition to Coimbatore's urban landscape, reinforcing the city's position as a growing centre for cultural initiatives in southern India.
