Mumbai University said it will refund the entire exam fee for students from 305 talukas in Maharashtra that have been declared drought‑hit.

Mumbai University announced that it will refund the full exam fee for students belonging to 305 talukas in Maharashtra that have been officially classified as drought‑hit. The decision comes as the state grapples with severe water scarcity affecting agriculture and livelihoods across large parts of the region.

Under the scheme, any student whose permanent residence is in one of the listed talukas will receive a 100% reimbursement of the examination charges they have paid for the current academic session. Applications are to be submitted online through the university’s portal, with supporting proof of residence and the taluka’s drought status.

University officials said the refund aims to alleviate the financial burden on families already strained by crop failures and loss of income. The move aligns with broader state relief measures and underscores the institution’s commitment to ensuring that students from affected areas can continue their studies without added economic pressure.
