The Madhya Pradesh health department confirmed that a man who had recently returned to Chhindwara tested positive for swine flu (H1N1). The case was identified during routine testing after the traveler reported symptoms consistent with the virus.
Following the diagnosis, officials launched a rapid response in the affected locality. A door‑to‑door health survey was conducted, and all individuals who had been in close contact with the patient were identified and tested as part of a comprehensive contact‑tracing effort.
Results of the tracing showed that the patient’s wife, who was among the primary contacts, tested negative for the virus. No additional positive cases have been reported so far, and the health department continues to monitor the situation closely.
The department has urged residents to seek medical attention promptly if they experience flu‑like symptoms and to adhere to preventive measures such as wearing masks and maintaining hygiene.
