Renowned broadcaster Sundeep Bhutoria is rolling out a Hindi version of Bengal’s iconic Mahalaya program, titled “Mahishasur Mardini ki Gatha”, for a pan‑Indian audience.

Sundeep Bhutoria, a noted figure in Indian media, has announced the launch of a Hindi rendition of the traditional Bengali Mahalaya broadcast. The program, renamed “Mahishasur Mardini ki Gatha”, aims to convey the mythic story of Goddess Durga’s triumph over the demon Mahishasura to listeners across the country.

The original Mahalaya, aired from Kolkata every year before Durga Puja, combines devotional songs, chants and narration. By translating it into Hindi, Bhutoria seeks to broaden its cultural reach, allowing non‑Bengali speakers to experience the spiritual prelude to the festival.

Business Standard reported that the Hindi version will be telecast on national channels and streamed online, synchronising with the traditional timing of the Mahalaya ceremony. Organisers have emphasized that the content remains faithful to the classic composition while making it accessible in a language understood by the majority of India’s population.

Cultural commentators view the initiative as a step toward greater inter‑regional cultural integration, highlighting how regional traditions can find resonance on a pan‑Indian platform without diluting their essence.
