Summit Hotels announced that its new 17‑villa Signature Retreat will open in Lachung, Sikkim in December, adding a luxury hospitality option to the region.
Summit Hotels confirmed that a 17‑villa Signature Retreat will commence operations in Lachung, Sikkim, slated for December. The property is being positioned as a high‑end getaway in the remote hill town, which sits at an altitude of about 2,800 metres near the Indo‑Tibetan border.
The retreat will comprise seventeen individually designed villas, each intended to blend modern amenities with the natural surroundings of the Eastern Himalayas. The development is expected to cater to affluent domestic and international travelers seeking immersive mountain experiences.
Industry observers note that the addition of a luxury brand like Summit Hotels could boost Lachung’s tourism profile, which has traditionally relied on backpackers and adventure seekers. Local authorities have welcomed the project, citing potential employment opportunities and increased visitor spending.
Summit Hotels, a chain with a growing presence in North‑East India, has not disclosed the exact pricing or the range of services offered, but the company’s previous properties emphasize personalized service, wellness facilities, and curated cultural activities.
