The Karnataka tourism department has introduced a digital initiative to enhance visitor experience at three major heritage destinations. As part of the broader push to digitise tourism, free smart audio guides in Kannada are now offered to tourists at Hampi, Belur and Halebidu.
Visitors can simply scan a QR code displayed at each site to access an audio narration that explains the historical significance, architectural features and cultural context of the monuments. The service is provided at no cost and is designed to make information readily available in the local language.
The rollout aims to enrich the educational value of the visits and encourage longer stays, thereby supporting local economies.
