Six states, including Himachal Pradesh, to sign MoU on Kishau Dam on Sept 15

Himachal Pradesh is set to join five other states in a joint Memorandum of Understanding that will be signed on September 15, marking the end of a long‑standing deadlock over the Kishau Dam project. The MoU is expected to outline a framework for coordinated water‑resource management, power generation and environmental safeguards among the participating states.

The agreement follows weeks of negotiations that had stalled due to differing views on water allocation and dam operation. With the impasse cleared, officials said the MoU will pave the way for timely project execution and shared benefits for the region.

State representatives are scheduled to meet in a neutral venue, likely New Delhi, to formalise the pact. The signing is being closely watched as a test of inter‑state cooperation on large‑scale infrastructure in the Himalayas.

Stakeholders, including local communities and environmental groups, have been urged to monitor implementation to ensure that ecological concerns are addressed alongside developmental goals.
