The Shahi Imam publicly rebuffed Pandit Dheerendra Shastri’s challenge, urging him to come to Ludhiana if he wishes.
In a recent statement, the Shahi Imam of Ludhiana sharply opposed a challenge issued by Hindu priest Pandit Dheerendra Shastri. The Imam’s response was unequivocal, telling the priest that he is welcome to Ludhiana only if he wishes to come. "When you wish, come to Ludhiana," he said, signalling a firm rejection of the challenge.
The exchange has drawn attention to the delicate communal dynamics in the city, where religious leaders often engage in public debates. While the Imam’s remarks were brief, they underscored a refusal to entertain the priest’s provocation.
No further comments have been recorded from Pandit Dheerendra Shastri or his supporters as of now, and local authorities have not reported any escalation beyond the verbal exchange.
The incident highlights the sensitivity surrounding inter‑faith interactions in Punjab’s industrial hub, prompting observers to call for calm and dialogue.
